Welcome to World Vault
World Vault is a companion for playing Dungeons & Dragons fifth edition with your group. It keeps your characters, your campaigns and the rules in one place, and gives the DM tools for running the game at the table.
What’s in it
Section titled “What’s in it”- Characters. Build a character step by step, then play from a sheet that works out the numbers for you: armor class, attacks, saves, skills, spellcasting, uses of your features, and more.
- The Compendium. The free D&D rules (the 2014 and 2024 System Reference Documents) are built in: spells, monsters, classes, species, backgrounds, feats, items and rules chapters. You can add your own homebrew too.
- Campaigns. A DM runs a campaign inside a setting (a world). Players join and bring their characters in.
- Scheduling. Mark when you can play; the DM sees when everyone is free and confirms sessions, which can land in your own calendar.
- The Campaign Journal. Shared pages about the world: places, people, lore, with tags and links.
- The Table Display. A map in its own window for a TV, monitor or projector, with portrait tokens, fog of war, spell templates and initiative, run from the DM’s screen.
How it’s organized
Section titled “How it’s organized”Settings are worlds. Each setting can have several campaigns, each with one DM and any number of players.
Characters start as your own templates. When you join a campaign you bring in a copy of a template; the copy lives in that campaign and changes there don’t touch your template.
Rulesets are the 2014 and 2024 rules. Every Compendium entry belongs to one, and each campaign picks which rules are on by default.
